[Network] Getting network working during installation (netinstall)

I try to install Debian 3.1r2 with a net install CD (so I must have a network connection). Everything is going fine except the network configuration. With other distro's I also had some troubles using my network card, but the only thing I had to do was add "options de4x5 args='eth0:fdx autosense=10Mb'" in /etc/modules.conf. Else it was detected as an 100Mbit card.

After Debian detected my hardware, it had choosen the wrong driver (tulip). So using CTRL+ALT+F2 and typing "modprobe -r tulip" I unloaded the tulip driver. Then by using "modprobe de4x5 args='eth0:fdx autosense=10Mb" my network SHOULD work... But when typing "ifconfig" I can't see any card (and my green led on the router still isn't burning, so it doesn't has any connection)

If I type ifconfig using the tulip driver it says it has 3 error's. The tulip driver doesn't support my LAN card DC21143.

Now my question, how can I get my network driver to work?

EDIT:
Some extra info:
Yes, the network card is working
Yes, the network cable is working

Hi

You may need a dedicated driver for this card. It appears to have a little age, but there is a linux driver for your card at the link below. I have been able to get otherwise unusable ethernet cards to work when I could not find a kernel module by using a driver.

Hope this helps

Bob

tnx for the driver but de4x5 is fully compatible with my DC21143 NIC. The only thing it doesn't want is work.... I don't know if I am doing something wrong... Because he doesn't seem to start the eth0 after i dit the modprobe thing... Is there a command that I have to use after it?

The reason I know for sure that de4x5 should work is because it worked on Slackware 10.2 (kernel 2.4). So I think I really am doing someting wrong...

Hope someone is seeing what, or knows another way to get a connection.

Derek.
